BEIJING – Mr. Hans Blankestijin, Secretary international Affairs of AOC RAAD, and Dr. F. W. Veltkamp, Director of International Projects of Holland College, part of Lentiz Education Group, had a meeting with Mr. Tian Guishan, Vice President of CABTS on the morning of February 22, 2012.

First of all, Tian introduced the major functions of Central Agricultural Broadcasting and Television Education Center (CABTEC), and the latest developments in farmers’ education and training in China.

Mr. Blankestijin briefed on agricultural education in the Netherlands, particularly on the Orange Agricultural Education, an education agency to be established by research universities, application-oriented universities and agricultural vocational colleges for meeting different needs in education and training. He also put forward several recommendations for future cooperation with CABTS.

Dr. F. W. Veltkamp illustrated the BTEC training programs jointly conducted among the Holland College and Chinese agricultural universities and vocational schools. He suggested that the BTEC training program can be tailored to meet the needs of CABTS and the reality of farmers’ education and training in China.

Both sides agreed that based on existing cooperation, future cooperation activities will expand cooperative fields and make breakthroughs in BTEC training programs. As a follow-up, a joint investigation will be conducted to those selected eligible ABTS for further promoting the BTEC program.

Both sides also reached consensus on making efforts to integrate their cooperative activities into the agenda of High Level Meeting 2012 Between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of the Netherlands, which is to be held in coming October, and continuing practical cooperation under the support of competent government authorities.

Foreign guests also looked around the building of CABTEC during their visit.
