Cultivating New Farmers, Accelerating the Process of Agriculture Modernization

On 16 December, the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Central Agricultural Broadcasting and Television School was held in the Great Hall of the People. Mr. Zhang Taolin, Vice Minister of Agriculture attended the meeting delivered a speech.

 

   

Zhang said that the agriculture modernization is far behind the industrialization and urbanization at present, especially the ageing and lower education level of rural laborers has become a chock point of modernization. Therefore, we must devote major effort to cultivating new farmer and rural practical talent, improving agriculture modernization, speeding the construction of socialist new countryside. Zhang reiterated that the CABTS should further bring into full play the role in education and training of rural laborer and migrating rural worker.

 

Executive Vice President Zeng Yichun of the CABTS said in his speech at the meeting that the CABTS was set up on December, 1980. Over the past 30 years, a total of 4.29 million rural people graduated from the secondary vocational education, 1.2 million farmer earned green certificate and 0.24 billion person-times received applicable agriculture technology training.

 

About 150 people attended the celebration, including leaders from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Family Planning Commission, the General Administration of Broadcasting, the State Forestry Administration, the Poverty Reduction Office of the State Council, the Central Committee of the Chinese Youth League, the All China Women Federation, the Central Committee of the China Democratic Construction Association, All China Industry and Commerce Association, China Science Association, the Central People's Radio Station, China Central Television Station, China Association of Agronomy, and etc., leaders and staff from the CABTS and Provincial Schools, representatives from the agriculture bureau at various level, representatives of teachers and students, and people from news media.
