The 26th ICDE World Conference Held in South Africa
The annual conference of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) that enjoys the fame of small UN assembly was held in Sun City of South Africa from October 13 to 16, 2015. Over 600 experts and scholars from 67 countries of the 5 continents of the world presented at the event. The conference hosted by South Africa University focused on extensive exchange of increasing the capacity of sustainable digitalized learning assurance. The conference adopted diversified delivery forms including assembly, parallel discussion and presentation and posters. The essays submitted to the conference involved multiple fields such as policies, management and sustainability of open and distance education, reform of contents, quality, methodology and evaluation of course development and instruction, support service to students, study on instruction, adoption of new technologies and research results, and the development of specializations and capacity enhancement.
The CABTS 4-member delegation headed by Mr. Wu Guoqiang, Vice President of CABTS, attended the conference. At the parallel meeting, Mr. Wu Guoqiang and Mr. Zheng Jianying delivered presentations respectively on Distance Education in Agriculture Fueling the Development of Modern Agriculture in China and Distance Education in Agriculture in China with Multimedia and Diversified Forms, while Chang Yingxin participated in essay exchange with Practices of Training of New Type of Career Farmers. At the completion of the conference, the CABTS delegation headed by Mr. Wu Guoqiang visited Pretoria, the HQs of the South Africa University for summit policy forum of university presidents.
