Strengthening International Cooperation to Fuel the Training of New Type of Career Farmers
From May 25 to 29, 2015, Mr. Liu Tianjin, Executive Vice President of CABTS, at the invitation of ADEC, headed the CABTS delegation for an international conference held in Oregon State University of United States of America. Mr. Liu Tianjin delivered an academic paper to the conference.
Over 80 delegates from ADEC member universities, Latin American and Asian countries carried out extensive discussion and exchange focusing on the theme of “Global Cooperation in On-line Learning: Ideas, Perspectives and Best Practices”. The conference also established a Forum of Agricultural Broadcast and Television School. In line with the fields of potential cooperation with ADEC, Mr. Liu Tianjin and the other 3 specialists of CABTS delivered academic papers to the conference respectively, as “International Cooperation of Distance Education in the Context of Globalization Trend”, “Development of On-line Learning Modules for the Improvement of Fodder Variety Selection”, “Cooperative Promotion of Mixed Education: the Development of Instructors and Positioning of Value” and “Small Family Farm Training Project of Oregon State University. During the conference, CABTS and ADEC signed the third Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation. In the coming few years, the two sides will engage in in-depth and programmatic cooperation in training of trainers, the development of bilingual Chinese and English on-line learning modules, trials of on-line instruction and on-line education and training of family farm owners. An international conference will be jointly sponsored at appropriate time in 2016 or 2017.
Members of the delegation also held discussions with the Dean of Instruction of Oregon State University and experts from the University International Project Center and On-line Learning Module Development Group. The delegation visited a small family farm and captured the education and training received by the farm owner and the production of organic vegetables of the farm.
