From 1 to 26 March, 2010, a staff training program in online courses design is conducted. Dr. Bonnie Luterbach from the University of Manitoba lectures the training. The contents of the training are mainly focus on: basic theory and concepts of instructional design of online courses; concepts and examples of learning objects, learning modules, social media resources, and courseware management system; the steps of online course design; the choice and application of multimedia in the design of online course; and how the instructional designer cooperates with the subject experts and technical personnel.
The training conducts by face-to-face with four weeks. First week is the instructional design workshop. In this part of the training, there are three lectures lecturing by distance respectively by Dr. Kathleen Matheos from the University of Manitoba, Dr. Bo Lou from D2L, and Dr. Majid Hamayil from the AI-Qudes University Palestine. During the left three weeks, the participants plan and develop components of a course, The Processing of Egg Products, and mount the components in Moodle.
Bye the end of the training, the instructional design group had completed the intended online course design and development project. The training program achieves great success.
